Drones have been a hot item in the past few years. We even have a drone club in Rochester, so people from our community can test their skills at flying these aircraft. It takes a lot of talent to be able to navigate one of these successfully. Even with a camera on it, I don't think I could handle one without crashing a few times.

WCCO 4 announced the other day that Allianz Field in St. Paul is hosting a 2019 Drone Racing League Allianz Season World Championship. The article says that contestants will race their drone through a 3-D course. But the fun part... it's lit up with fun colored lights. The article continues to say that drone racing is the sport of the future.

This is the first time a professional drone race has been hosted in the land of 10,000 lakes. We even have a Minnesota native competing in it. Christopher Spangler is from Bloomington and he is one of the pilots that'll be fighting for a spot at the 2019 Drone Racing League Allianz World Championship.

The article says that the event isn't open to the public, but if you are interested in checking it out, you can stream it on Twitter. According to the Drone League Twitter page, they have also been featured on NBC. This sport is growing and maybe soon we will be spending our nights watching drone racing.
