Chippewa Falls, WI (KROC-AM News) - The death of Lily Peters has been officially ruled a homicide.

Ronald Patton, the Chippewa County Coronor, today announced the preliminary results of the autopsy performed on the 10-year-old Chippewa Falls girl by the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office in St. Paul. He says the forensic examination found the child had injuries consistent with strangulation and blunt force trauma.

The girl's body was found Monday morning along a walking trail that provides a path between her family's home and her aunt's house a few blocks away on the other side of the Chippewa River. She was reported missing Sunday night when she failed to return home after visiting her aunt's residence.

Chippewa Falls police announced Tuesday they had arrested a 14-year-old boy as a suspect in Lily's death. He was charged yesterday with first-degree murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct and is being held at a Wisconsin juvenile detention Center on $1 million bail.

Wisconsin officials have said the suspect and the victim were known to each other but they have not released his name or disclosed the nature of the relationship.
