The deadly crash occurred in the area of Highway 60 that features sharp curves.

The State Patrol responded to the crash at an intersection in Wabasha County shortly after 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

The survivors reported that three others were missing. Law enforcement launched a large-scale search that ended with the recovery of the bodies of the three missing boaters on Sunday.

The deadly incident was reported around 10:45 Saturday night.

Chief Deputy Curt Struwe was sworn in as the southeast Minnesota county’s 29th sheriff on Wednesday morning.

Both drivers involved in the crash are from Plainview.

A post published on the law enforcement agency’s Facebook page Tuesday morning says he has been missing for over 24 hours.

He was arrested following an hour-long standoff in an area near Chester Woods Park east of Rochester.
