After taking in the Honkers home opener last night (and my first trip to Mayo Field), it got me thinking about the several baseball road trips I've taken, designed around seeing as many different ballparks as I could. I've been to Major League parks in Milwaukee, Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Denver, and, of course, in Minneapolis. I've seen some pretty nice Triple-A parks in New Orleans and Memphis, too. One of my favorites, however, was in Nashville.

Here I am at Herschel Greer Stadium in Nashville a few years ago. The stadium is home to the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Brewers. While Nashville is currently building a new stadium for the Sounds, I enjoyed taking in a game at Greer Stadium, mainly thanks to its throwback nature. It was built in the mid 70's, and still retains much of its 70's era charm-- most notably, the guitar-shaped scoreboard. Watching a game there reminded me of the stadiums I used to go to (or watch on TV) when I was a kid.  So buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks-- I don't care if I ever get back!
