The 4 Minnesota Cities Where Home Prices Average $1 Million
If you live in one of these four Minnesota cities, congratulations-- you're a millionaire!
Well, maybe YOU aren't necessarily a millionaire, but if you live in one of these four Minnesota cities, your house is probably a millionaire... because according to Zillow, for the first time, average home prices in these four cities top one million dollars.
Yeah, that's pretty expensive, isn't it? I mean, if you watch any of those real estate shows on HGTV like House Hunters (which my wife and I do ALL. THE. TIME.) you routinely see couples have a budget of over a million dollars (which seems like they're inflating things a bit, if you ask me) but here in Minnesota it's not as common.
For comparison, Zillow says here in Rochester, average home prices vary from neighborhood to neighborhood (you can check out the 10 Most Expensive Neighborhoods in the Med City HERE), but overall are valued at $259,108-- quite a bit less than a million dollars.
But if you live in one of these four places, home prices have hit that magical six-figure mark. BringMeTheNews looked into just which neighborhoods had an average home price of north of a million dollars and found that (if you're like me) you'll probably need a side hustle to afford a home in these four cities here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, all of which are in the Twin Cities metro area:
According to Zillow, Minnetonka Beach, on Lake Minnetonka, has an average home price is $1,440,694.00, up 7.6% from 2019. Then there's the Greenwood neighborhood, also on Lake Minnetonka, where the average home price $1,157,259.00, up 7.2% from 2019. Or, the Woodland neighborhood, also on Lake Minnetonka, near Wayzata, where the average price is $1,092,931.00, up 3% from 2019. And, finally, there's tiny Sunfish Lake, between I-494 and Minnesota Highway-62 near Mendota Heights, where the average home price is now $1,014,156.00, up 4.2% from 2019.
Of course, you don't have to head to the Twin Cities to find million-dollar homes. Keep scrolling to see some fabulous homes worth at least a million dollars, all of which are located right here in Rah-Rah-Rochester.
