The Most Stolen Car in Minnesota Probably Isn’t What You Think It Is
Are you driving the vehicle that's stolen the most in Minnesota?
Most of us were taught when we were young that taking things that don't belong to us is wrong, right? But apparently, not everybody in Minnesota got that same lesson because there are still those who go around stealing things. Like vehicles. And here's a head's up if you own THIS vehicle because, according to a new insurance industry survey, it's the Most Stolen Vehicle in Minnesota for 2019.
The most recent Hot Wheels Report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau is out, and it runs down just which vehicles are the hottest makes and models that thieves target not only here in Minnesota, but across the country.
And while the U.S. as a whole, the Ford F-150 pick-up is the Most Stolen Vehicle for 2019 (the most recent year in which data has been compiled), that's NOT the most stolen vehicle here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. (In fact, the F-150 is way down at #6 on the Minnesota list.)
So which vehicle tops the list here? According to the NICB, that'd be the Honda Civic. Specifically, a 2000 Honda Civic. There were 605 of them stolen in Minnesota in 2019 (even though a 20-year-old model seems like an odd choice of car thieves if you ask me.). It's followed by the Honda Accord at #2, the Honda CRV at #3, Chevy's Full-Size pick-up at #4, and Toyota's Full-Size Pick-Up at #5.
You can check the full NICB list here, which also includes several tips to make sure YOUR vehicle isn't one of the vehicles that end up on the stolen list too. And, speaking of vehicles, do you remember just how much gas cost the year you were born-- or when you started driving? Keep scrolling to take a look and find out...
