Popular Shoe Store Just Closed Its Only Minnesota Location
The store opened its only Minnesota location in 2016 but just announced that it's now officially closed.
The news broke last week (Friday, January 21st) that this popular shoe store was closing its only location here in Minnesota, located at the Mall of America in Bloomington.
According to this story in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the only TOMS Shoes location in the Land of 10,000 Lakes is now officially closed as of January 14th. A sign on the front of the store, in the north wing at MOA told the tale, saying in part:
"Thank you for all the good years – we're sorry to have to go."
The story noted that the TOMS location here in Minnesota was first announced as a new tenant at MOA in 2015 and officially opened its 2,000 square foot facility in 2016. However, within the past several years, the company has started to close most of its stand-alone stores, and is instead selling its shoes and merchandise online and through other retailers.
Speaking of Closed, Did You See That Frozen Potatoes Closed This MN Highway?
Which is good news. Because even though its own store here in the Bold North is officially closed, you can STILL get TOMS shoes.
In fact, a quick Google search showed that TOMS shoes are available for sale at several locations here in Rochester, including DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, Famous Footwear, Tradehome Shoes, Macy's, JC Penney, Scheels, TJ Maxx and Homegoods, and Plato's Closet.
It's never fun when a store goes out of business, but in this case, at least its products are still going to be around. That's not always the case, of course. Usually, when a business closes its doors, it's the end of the line for their products too.
