A Kansas man in Court has requested for a different trial to be approved by the Judge, a trial by combat.

According to public court documents and reported by the Des Moines Register, 40-year-old, David Ostrom of Paola, KS, says his ex-wife, Bridgette Ostrom of Harlan, IA, has "destroyed (him) legally". In what has to be the weirdest request the District Court of Shelby County, Iowa, has ever heard, David asked for 12 weeks of "lead time" to allow for him to forge or source a katana and wakizashi swords.

To this day, trial by combat has never been explicitly banned or restricted as a right in these United States,

Ostrom got this crazy idea after learning about a 2016 Court case involving New York Supreme Court Justice, Philip Minardo, where he acknowledged that duals have not been abolished. David's plan is to meet his ex-wife and her attorney "on the field of battle where (he) will rend their souls from their corporal bodies."

Ostrom I'm sure meant 'corporeal' bodies and not corporal but regardless, this takes the cake of the weirdest thing you will most likely read all day.
