Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A trial date was set today in a Rochester murder case that dates back nearly 2 years.

Jury selection for 22-year-old Ty Jhuan Anderson's trial on the second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder charges is currently scheduled to begin the week of May 1 next year. Anderson is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Mikayal Gordon of Rochester and critically wounding a 20-year-old man during a confrontation in a hallway at the Village of Essex apartment complex on October 30, 2020.

The criminal complaint says a witness to the fatal shooting identified Anderson as the shooter. It also indicates Anderson was in a vehicle that was stopped by police shortly after the shooting was reported and the officer involved in the stop described him as "belligerent and appeared to be intoxicated." The evidence includes Snapchat videos taken at a party in the apartment complex that shows Anderson "drinking heavily and brandishing a pistol that appears to be identical to the pistol located outside of Essex Park." The court record says investigators believe it was the gun used in the shooting.

Anderson was released from the Olmsted County jail in April after the judge in the case agreed to lower his bail to $250,000. He now has a St. Cloud address.
