Oronoco, MN (KROC AM News) - An Oronoco man is expected to be arraigned Thursday on felony assault charges for stabbing two people.
Olmsted County deputies were called to a home in the 10 block of 9th Ave NW around 4:30 am Wednesday and found the victims - a 52-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man - outside.
The man had several puncture wounds in his upper body and the woman had suffered defensive wounds to her hands and arms. They were taken to the hospital. Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Schueller says the injuries were not life-threatening.
The suspect held officers at bay for 2 ½ hours before he came out and was arrested. Taken to jail was 55-year-old Kurt Phelps.
Schueller says Phelps was in an “altered mental state” during the incident.
