Why donate blood? That’s easy – it helps save lives. In fact, each blood donation can help save up to 3 lives – a mother, a daughter, a brother, or a friend - and all blood collected at the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor center is used locally.

I'm not just saying to give just to write words.  This blood shortage is a serious issue in our area and throughout our country and lives are depending on this blood.  I even know some of those people and that's why a few weeks ago, I donated myself.  And once July shows up on the calendar, I'll be back again.  Not because I love the cookies that you get after donating but because I know this is something I can do to help someone else...and it only takes about an hour of my time once every few months.

  •  The Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Center's location on the main floor of the Hilton Building is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with special late-night hours on Tuesday, Dec. 21 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
