For the second straight season, the Minnesota Vikings have lost their top draft choice to a knee injury. Monday the Star Tribune reported that the team confirmed that Mike Hughes suffered an ACL injury during a fourth-quarter play that will result in him missing the rest of the season.

Last year running back Dalvin Cook had the same injury and he missed most of the season. He has missed several games this season due to a hamstring injury, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Minnesota beat Arizona Sunday 27-17 to improve to 3-2-1. The Vikings go to the New York Jets Sunday, October 21 for a 12 pm kickoff.

Hughes, out of Central Florida, had two starts on the season and played on special teams.

Minnesota beat Arizona with a strong ground game Sunday. Latavius Murray ran for 155 yards and the first rushing touchdown of the season for the team. Quarterback Kirk Cousins also dashed into the end zone. He had a challenging day passing, as several attempts were batted down by the Cardinals. One was batted back to Cousins for the rare quarterback-to-himself completion.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen continues to be a big story with his sixth straight 100-plus yard game. His choice of shoes made for a story as well.
