Travelers Say This Popular Minnesota Spot Is The Most Overrated
Let’s be real, Minnesota knows how to show visitors a good time.
We’ve got the biggest mall in the country, breath-taking waterfalls, incredible art and science museums, historic spots, lakes on lakes on lakes, and more charming small towns than you could possibly squeeze into a weekend road trip.
So when I saw a list from Love Exploring that called out the most overrated tourist attraction in every state, you better believe I had to scroll straight to Minnesota’s pick.
The data comes from Hawaiian Islands, a vacation rental company that dug into more than 17,000 Tripadvisor reviews, scanning for how often people dropped the word “overrated” when talking about well-known attractions.

Travelers Say This Popular Minnesota Spot Is The Most Overrated:
For Minnesota, the title went to none other than the Walker Art Center and its neighboring sculpture garden - you know, the place with the giant cherry on a spoon that gets all the Instagram love. Why though?
Don’t shoot the messenger. I definitely don’t agree with the pick, but according to Tripadvisor users, the Walker doesn’t always live up to the hype. While many visitors enjoy the ever-evolving contemporary exhibits and the artful outdoor setting, some felt the museum experience fell flat. Common complaints included a confusing layout and a high $18 admission fee.

According to their website, The Walker Art Center ranks among the five most-visited modern/contemporary art museums in the United States and, together with the adjacent Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, attracts more than 700,000 visitors per year.
Sure, not every place is going to be a hit for everyone, and that's okay. The Walker Art Center definitely has its fans, but if it’s not your style, you're not short on options here.
