WATCH: Minnesota Roads Turn Chaotic After Less Than Inch Of Snow

Sunday night, areas across Minnesota saw reduced visibility, slippery roads, and vehicles that went into the ditch or crashed into one another as snow rolled into the metro area around 4pm, just in time for the evening rush hour. Between 1 and 4 inches fell Saturday afternoon into the evening. The day before, Friday night saw what many would consider a light snowfall turn Minnesota roads into chaos, leading one trooper to request that the interstate be closed down due to the numerous close calls.

Youtube Channel, MN Safety, took the time to put together some of the most dramatic close calls, and multi-vehicle crashes that were caught on MnDOT cameras across the metro from Friday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol on Twitter, there were 580+ crashes reported Friday into Saturday morning, and during the period in which this video shows, there were over 200 crashes on Minnesota roadways.

The Minnesota Safety Council offers up some winter safe driving tips for those wanting to refresh their knowledge or to pass along to a new driver in the family.

"Adjust your speed to the conditions and increase following distances. Remember that bridges and overpasses can be more slippery than other parts of the road. If you begin to skid, remain calm, ease your foot off the gas and gently turn the wheel in the direction you want the car to go. With regular brakes, slowly apply pressure, but don't let the wheels lock. If you have anti-lock brakes apply steady firm pressure to the brake pedal. Never pump ABS brakes."
