Talk about a mother's love: This mama bear swam across a northern Wisconsin lake with her three cubs on her back!

When you stop and think about it, nature is really amazing. My wife and I love getting out and exploring some of the incredible sights here in Minnesota (in fact, we just bought our Minnesota State Parks annual permit admission sticker on a trip to the North Shore earlier this summer.)

But in all the parks we've explored so far, I've never seen anything like this: a mama bear, swimming across a lake...with three cubs on her back!

According to the Fox-6 TV story, this amazing video was shot on the Chippewa Flowage near Couderay, Wisconsin (not too far north of Eau Claire, where I used to live, about three and a half hours north of Rochester) back in June by Nelda Powers.

She and some friends were out in their boat on the lake one evening when they saw something swimming in the water. Turns out it was our mama bear, making pretty good time as she swam across the lake WHILE CARRYING HER THREE CUBS ON HER BACK! Nelda and her crew followed the bear family as they make it to the shore, up the embankment, and finally scampered off into the woods.

You have to see the incredible video below. It's amazing-- and quite the testament to all the things moms do to keep their family safe! That must have been some workout for mama bear-- I had no idea bears could swim that well, but I'm glad they all made it safely to shore. Shout-out to you, mama bear-- impressive!  (And speaking of amazing things from my home state of Wisconsin, keep scrolling to see how an old Minnesota grain bin was given new life... as a bar!)
