Who Gets The Ring After A Broken Engagement? Here’s What People in SE MN Say
There has always been a debate about if the women should give back an engagement ring after breaking off an engagement or should she keep it. The other day, I asked our listeners what they thought about who should get the ring in this Facebook post!
We got a lot of interaction on this post, so I thought I would share some of the best comments with you!
This brings up a great point. It does kind of depend on who is financially responsible for the hardware. If he paid for it... give it back, but if she paid for it then she should keep it. If you are a sentimental person, then getting rid of the ring can help with the grieving process.
Each state has different laws on if a ring is a gift or not. This comment actually created a debate. Some say the law states that a ring is a gift no matter when it was given. Others say it's only a gift if it is given on a holiday.
Another good point! Should one consider who wanted to call things off? Does it really matter? Another debate that happened on our Facebook page! WOW! This was a real hot topic!
Another good point. Mutual agreements mean that both parties are in agreeance, so the ring should go back.

One of our listeners brought up a good point in our app. If the ring belonged to someone like a mom or a grandmother, then it must be given back. That essentially belongs to the family and should be passed down from generation to generation.
We ended up getting over 80 comments on this post. Almost everyone on our page said that they would give the ring back and I agree! Thank you so much for all of your help! Join the conversation in the post below:
