Lake Zumbro (KROC AM News) – With the pending loss of Fisherman’s Inn, a popular longtime event held near the restaurant is facing an uncertain future.

The SkiDox Water Ski Team has been holding performances on Lake Zumbro near the restaurant for decades. Fans have watched the weekly summer shows from the Fisherman’s Inn property or boats that would park near the show site that includes a ramp for the skiers.

Team President Dunnon Warnke says her group had been hearing rumors about the sale of the restaurant to Olmsted County for months. Warnke says she has had no conversations with the county about continuing the shows and hopes the change in ownership of the site “won’t mean an end to the club.” Warnke says club members “are dedicated to keeping the club going” at the Lake Zumbro site.

In the meantime, the club has shows scheduled at the Fisherman’s Inn site Wednesday at 6:30 PM, next Wednesday at 6:30 PM and 1:00 PM on Labor Day.

The competitive show unit was once known as the Rochester Waterski Team and has also performed at Rochester’s Silver Lake and Foster-Arend Park.

It put on its first show at Lake Zumbro in 1950.
