WINTER CLOSINGS AND DELAYS FOR JANUARY 18TH, 2019 [UPDATED]

Southeast Minnesota is currently under a Winter Weather Advisory. Several inches of snow are expected mid-afternoon through late evening today. Roads will be slick and travel will be dangerous. Here are the latest closings and cancellations:

Schools

• Aldrich Memorial Nursery School in Rochester - Closing at 1:00 PM; No afternoon classes or kids club
• Albert Lea Public Schools - Closed
• Austin Public Schools - Closed
• Byron Public Schools - Closing at 1:30 PM; No Evening Activities
• Caledonia Area Public Schools - Closing at 1:00 PM
• Fillmore Central Public Schools - Closing at 12:45 PM; No Evening Activities
• Filmore County DAC - Closing at 12:00 PM
• Grand Meadow Schools - Closed
• Houston Public Schools - Closing at 12:30 PM
• Kasson-Mantorville Schools - Early dismissal - high school/middle school out at 1:45 PM. Elementary and Preschool at 1:55 PM; No evening activities. PK open until 4 PM.
• Kids Come 1st, Rochester - Closing early; Kids Come 1st Children's Centers are closing at 4:00 pm today.
• Kingsland Public Schools - Closing at 12:00 PM; Child Care Open; No PM Preschool.
• Lanesboro Public Schools - Closing at 1:00 AM
• LeRoy Ostrander Public School - Closed
• Lyle Public Schools - Closed; no evening activities
• NICC Calmar Campus - Closing at 2:00 PM
• NRHEG Public Schools - Dismissing at 12:00 PM; all activities canceled
• Owatonna Public Schools - Closing at 12:30 PM; Students will be released at 12:30 pm
• Pine Island Public Schools - Closing at 2:10 PM; no evening activities
• Rochester Public Schools - RPS is not in session today, with the exception of Longfellow 45/15 elementary.
  •  Longfellow dismissing at 12:15 PM today (after lunch).
  • All RPS buildings with the exception of SACC (School Age Child Care) at Bamber Valley, Jefferson, and Northrop will be closing today at 12:30 PM. SACC is closing at 6 PM today.
  • All afternoon and evening Community Education/PAIIR classes for early childhood, youth, adults, and adults with exceptional abilities are canceled.
  • All community building reservations are canceled.
  • All after-school athletics, activities, and co-curricular are canceled.
• Rochester Catholic Schools - No Evening Activities; This includes all practices and games.
• Rochester Center for Autism - Closing at 1:00 PM
• Rushford-Peterson Public Schools - Closing at 12:20 PM
• Spring Grove Public Schools - Closing at 1:00 PM; No afternoon preschool
• Stewartville Public Schools - Closing at 12:35 PM
• St. John Lutheran School, Wykoff - Closing at 12:00 PM
• St. Ansgar Public School - Closed
• Triton Public Schools - Closing at 1:30 PM; Youth wrestling canceled tonight; youth team event still scheduled for Saturday.
• Wabasha County DAC: Closing at 2:00 PM today
• ZED ALC/South Campus - Closing at 1:30 PM

City:

• City of Chatfield - Snow event: City crews will be plowing streets, please remove vehicles from streets; Starting at noon Friday until noon Saturday. Vehicles plowed around may be ticketed.
• City of Lanesboro - No parking on all City Streets from noon today 1/18/19 until noon tomorrow 1/19/19; Off street parking locations at the Bass Pond Parking Lot, Community Center Parking Lot
• Mason City Snow Emergency - Alternate Side Parking Ordinance and Emergency Snow Route in effect until further notice; No parking is allowed on 1st Street NW from Monroe Avenue to Pierce Avenue until further notice
• City of Stewartville - Snow alert effective 12 AM through 7 AM on 1/19; No parking on city streets; cars will be ticketed

Churches:

• Pax Christi Catholic Church - Prayer service tonight canceled, church closed
• Resurrection Catholic Church, Rochester - Perpetual Adoration closes Friday at 3 PM; reopen 6 AM Jan. 19

Other Organizations:

• Allegro School of Dance and Music, Rochester - Closing at 2 PM.; All evening dance and music lessons canceled; rehearsal for R.E.D. canceled and conferences to be rescheduled.
• Arc Mower County - Open Center Cancelled Jan. 18
• Hot Meals on Wheels in Austin - Closed Today; Austin Meals on Wheels deliveries canceled for January 18th
• Stewartville Girl Scouts: Sleep-in canceled for tonight.
• Tonns of Fun Pediatric Occupational & Speech Therapy in Stewartville: Open House Cancelled for Tonight. Rescheduled for Friday, March 1 5-8 PM
