MnDOT reported close to 400 crashes yesterday after light snow fell across parts of the state. Conditions will be worse this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for area and is forecasting some really nasty conditions.

The NWS says, "A wintry mix of precipitation is going to spread northeast across the area late Friday night and Saturday morning. The precipitation is then expected to transition to rain or snow, depending on how warm the surface temperatures are. Where temperatures will be closer to the freezing mark, several inches of snow are possible, mainly from later Saturday morning through Sunday morning."

Light mixed precipitation and heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible. Travel will be difficult. Read more on this watch, here.
