It's called The Break Room, and, as its website says, it's coming soon to St. Paul. Just what is it? Well, it's advertising itself as a place offering "recreation destruction." Which means, basically, that you pay them a fee, then head into a room and start whacking stuff.

You pick out the instrument you want to use -- like a sledge hammer, baseball bat or a frying pan -- and then you start whaling away at various fragile items, like vases, lamps, or yes-- even electronic equipment.

According to this TwinCities.com story, the Break Room is the brainchild of Sarah Purcell, who lives in Minneapolis. She said she hopes the business will be a stress-reliever of sorts. So far, she said in the story, people appear to be interested-- she's received several calls wondering when the business will open, and if it will be available to bachelor and bachelorette parties.

“Customers just get to go hog wild and smash things – we take care of the rest,” Purcell said in the story-- including clean-up. The story says she'll be sourcing the items to be smashed at various local thrift stores and recycling services. You get outfitted with the proper attire, like face masks, overalls, gloves and shoe covers, then pick out your item and start whacking away.

Sound like fun? Apparently, many people think it does. Purcell said she hopes to have the business up and running later this spring, "in late May or early June at a space in Can Can Wonderland, an artist-designed indoor mini-golf course being planned at a former can factory building at 755 N. Prior Ave in St. Paul," the story said.

Prices will range from around $1 to smash plate, all the way into the $15 - $20 range if you want to whack away at an old computer or other electronic device.
