If you want to try some of the best pizza in the entire country, you don't even have to leave Minnesota, as one local pizza place was just included on a list of the best pizza restaurants in the US.

There are a lot of lists going around the internet these days, where 'experts' rank everything from places to live to professional sports teams. But this list was compiled by actual customers of various pizza restaurants across the country. And one Minnesota pizza place landed a spot on the list.

Yelp Names the Best Pizza Spots in the US

Yelp's list of the Top Pizza Spots in the US and Canada lists 100 different restaurants that make grabbing a slice or two much better than average. Yelp said they compiled the list by ranking businesses in the pizza category based on several factors, including total volume and rating of reviews.

This Historic St. Paul Pizzeria Takes the Crown

And, Mama's Pizza in Saint Paul was the only Minnesota pizza place to be included on the list, coming in at #63. It's located on the corner of Rice Street and Front Avenue in Saint Paul's North End neighborhood and has been serving pizza and other Italian fare since 1964. And while it transitioned to take-out only during the pandemic, it's still going strong.

What Real Customers Say About the Top MN Pizza Spot

According to Yelp, Mama's Pizza has a 4-and-a-half-star rating (out of 5 stars) from just under 300 reviews, and Minnesotans can't get enough. Matt M. from Little Canada said:

In my opinion it's one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. The staff is friendly and generous. The food is simply delicious.

The same goes for visitors to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, according to Tony O., who's from Tacoma, Washington:

One of the best pizzas I've ever had! Tony was great to talk and can't wait to come back from Washington state to have his pizza again, way better than anything around us. Looking forward to coming back and having Mama's pizza again!

So shout out to Mama's Pizza! I haven't had one of their pizzas yet, but I can't wait to try it. Meanwhile, two pizza restaurants behind the Cheese Curtain over in Wisconsin made the list: Santino's Little Italy in Milwaukee, which was ranked at #64, and Novanta in Madison, which came in at #83 on the list.

And while Mama's is still around, not all businesses are so long-lasting. Keep scrolling to check out some familiar brands that were once common here in Minnesota but aren't around anymore!
