When you think of sandwiches for which Minnesota is famous, which one comes to your mind? It's probably not the one a new survey lists as our state's favorite.

If you're like me, that is. That's why I'm not entirely buying this Reader's Digest survey that lists the favorite sandwich in each state, including here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. They teamed up with Taste of Home and, along with reader suggestions, to find the '50 greatest ways to fill two slices of bread.'

And the result? Here in Minnesota, they say our favorite is... the walleye sandwich. Really? A walleye sandwich? That's our favorite sandwich here in the North Star State? Here's how the survey describes the walleye sandwich:

Minneapolis has its Juicy Lucy (a cheeseburger with the cheese inside the meat patty instead of on top), but people fry up this freshwater fish all over the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Crisp lettuce, tangy tartar sauce, and lemon wedges—not to mention cold beer—are optional accouterments.

I mean, sure, walleye IS our state fish and all, and I like a good fish fry or shore lunch as much as anyone. I'm also sure there are some lovely walleye sandwiches at establishments all over Minnesota, but is that really our favorite?

I beg to differ. In fact, as their own description suggests, the Jucy Lucy (which is the proper way to spell it, btw, according to Matt's Bar in Minneapolis, which invented the now-classic) might be a more fitting choice as our favorite here in Minnesota.

The Jucy Lucy is way more popular than a walleye sandwich, isn't it? Sports bars and restaurants all over Minnesota now serve some version of the Jucy Lucy. Plus, Matt's Bar has even hosted national shows like Guy Fiere's Diners, Drive-In's and Dives, which focused on the classic Minnesota-made burger.

I will give you, though, that perhaps the Jucy Lucy is considered a burger, and not an actual sandwich. However, check out what my home state of Wisconsin said was THEIR favorite sandwich in the survey: a bratwurst (a 'beer brat' what they called it.) If Wisconsin can have a brat, Minnesota sure can have a burger as our favorite, right?

What do YOU think our favorite sandwich should be here in the Bold North? Either way, keep scrolling to check out 10 other foods that, while maybe not a sandwich, are absolutely and totally Minnesota, as well.
