I still remember where I was the day of 9/11. I was doing morning radio at another station when my cousin Gloria called us and said, "Hey are you watching the news? There was an airplane that crashed into one of the Twin towers. So, as we turned on the news, we watched the side of the building on fire and wondered "What kind of pilot would do that?" I mentioned to my morning show partner at the time, "maybe it's a terrorist".
Just then another plane flew into the side of the other tower and burst into flames. I told her, "Holy (crap), we're under attack of some sort." After that, all the networks were on the story.
I remember saying, 'I hope all the people get out OK', because at any given time, there was an average of 5,000+ people in the Twin Towers. Just then, the first tower collapsed. We were watching history in the making, as it was the deadliest terror attack on American soil in history, killing 2,997 people. 2,403 were killed at Pearl Harbor.
