CMA Winners And Highlights
The 49th Annual CMA Awards went down last night and as always, it was a great show filled with laughs and fantastic musical performances. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood did another great job as co-hosts. From the opening 'Star Wars' bit to making fun of lost e-mails, it was well worth watching. My favorite part was when they did a salute to Little Jimmy Dickens.
The big winners at last night's CMAs were LITTLE BIG TOWN and CHRIS STAPLETON. They each took home three trophies. LUKE BRYAN won his second straight Entertainer of the Year award, and MIRANDA LAMBERT was named Female Vocalist of the Year.
As far as the performances: Carrie Underwood played guitar while singing "Smoke Break". I think. My eyes refused to leave her thigh high boots and almost there miniskirt. Damn them. Not really.
JASON ALDEAN rocked his performance of "Gonna Know We Were Here". And ZAC BROWN BAND kept it simple with their song "Beautiful Drug".
There were other collaborations worth talking about. HANK WILLIAMS JR. and ERIC CHURCH opened the show with Hank's new single, "Are You Ready for the Country".
And KEITH URBAN helped JOHN MELLENCAMP perform his classic "Pink Houses" . . . and then Keith went solo for "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16".
Oh, one more thing...was KACEY MUSGRAVES wearing pants while performing "Dime Store Cowgirl"? Nope.
