This FREE, day-long Rochesterfest event is our community’s celebration of the emancipation of slaves in the state of Texas and throughout the nation. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  For the past several years, Rochester has hosted its own celebration to honor and support the ideals of freedom and unity in our community and our nation.

9TH ANNUAL JUNETEENTH FAMILY CELEBRATION

in partnership with Rochester Juneteenth Celebration, Inc., the Rochester Branch NAACP, Rochester Art Center & Diversity Council.

An ongoing program providing information on the history and significance of the Juneteenth celebration.  The entire community is invited to come to this exciting event as we join together in unity to celebrate our freedom.

  • A workshop and tours by artist Lamar Peterson in celebration of his exhibition Suburbia Sublime
  • A diverse array of entertainment ranging from gospel choirs to R&B music, spoken word, dance, and a variety of other performances
  • Vendors providing food & drink, resource information for the community, and a variety of other products & services
  • An ongoing program providing information on the history and significance of the Juneteenth celebration
