Get Fined for a Selfie Pic!
The 'Selfie Police' are fining people $1 for taking selfies. Brigham Young University students Chas Barton and Dustin Locke started the project for charity. Selfie "violators" are urged to voluntarily come forward and donate. Proceeds benefit Vittana, a nonprofit that provides student loans to college-age kids in developing countries. Over $1,000 has been raised through Selfiepolice.org since last Tuesday.
Barton tells the Norwich Bulletin, "When we first came up with the idea we were trying to think of how to engage our generation in giving. It's tricky because we're such a selfish generation, so the question we asked was not how do we make our generation charitable, but how do we turn selfishness into charity."
