Happy 157th birthday Minnesota! It was on this date in 1858 that Minnesota officially became a state and is represented by the 32nd star on the U.S. flag. Did you know that St. Peter was originally designated to be the state capitol? It was. The bill making the formal designation disappeared and wasn't found in time to be filed with the federal government, so St. Paul retained the title. Thanks to Kim David with KROC-AM for sharing this cool story!
