We've all had 'a project' to do in school. One Rochester-area girl recently did a project that involved helping the Women's Shelter. Brooklyn Weller, a student at Willow Creek Middle School coordinated efforts with her teacher and grandmother to make and purchase gifts for the Rochester Women's Shelter.

She asked for donations from strangers, friends and family. She then took the money raised and purchased needed items for the shelter. She also bought some material, and along with her grandma, made 20+ teddy bears she calls, "ELLY Bears." The ELLY stands for 'Exceptional, Lovable, Likable You".

She did it to let people know that there are others who care about them in their time of need. A lot of times the victims of spousal abuse leave their homes with only the clothes on their back. If you'd like to find out more or if you're a victim of abuse, click on this link: WOMEN'S SHELTER.
