Pretend You’re ‘Baby’ This Summer In Rochester
Hey, it took Baby some time to learn some sweet dance moves with Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing. If it takes you time to learn this summer, you'll just be more like her!
A press release explains, "The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) is excited to kickoff the first season of Social Steps tomorrow, June 1st on the Peace Plaza. Social Steps is a summer dance series featuring free, bi-weekly dance classes taught by Dahl Dance with open dancing afterward on the Peace Plaza. Each date will be themed and introduce a specific style of dance."
By the way, you read that correctly - this is an entirely free event! I love the idea of a themed cocktail (which we are served at nearby Peace Plaza restaurants each week) too!
I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed for a "Dirty Dancing" theme one week....but I'm not sure that's how it works.
Here's what I do know: dancing is relaxing and relieves stress. It's science! A website explains: "Research also proves that dancing also reduces stress and tension for the mind and body. Studies by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute have shown that dancing also prevents heart disease in particular."
It's never a bad idea to stay active!
