Last night (May 5th), the unfortunate news broke that the Freeborn County Fair will not be happening in 2020. The event was supposed to take place in Albert Lea August 4th-9th.

According to the Freeborn County Fair Facebook page it states, "with social distancing requirements and the restrictions on mass gatherings due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Freeborn County Commissioners have suspended all activities at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds until further notice".

The fair committee will plan on moving forward with getting things situated for the 2021 Fair. With big musical names, like Michael Ray and The Oak Ridge Boys slated to play in this years Fair, the fair committee now looks ahead to attempt too get this rebooked for next year. According to the Facebook post, refunds are being issued for those who bought reserve tickets, season passes or passports online through Midwest Tix. It states that refunds could take up to 2 weeks to process. If tickets were purchased in person at the Fair office, tickets would have to be turned in to be issued a refund.
