Walker, MN (KROC-AM News) - 2 children were among the four people who were airlifted to hospitals with serious injuries following three separate ATV crashes in northern Minnesota's Cass County over the long Memorial Day Holiday weekend.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says one of the crash victims was a 3-year-old boy who was riding on the back of an ATV operated by a 42-year-old Shakopee woman. The incident was reported around 6 PM Sunday on a rural property near Hackensack. Both the woman and the child were thrown off the ATV when it suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree and then bounced off other trees. A news release says they were transported to a hospital in the Twin Cities.
