A New Area Team at #1 In This Week’s Minnesota State Football Rankings
The week 6 rankings are out and there was some shuffling in the Top 10 across the different classes, including a new team in the area at #1 in Class AAA.
Several teams in Southeast Minnesota moved up in the rankings, while a few others fell in the rankings. As the schedule moves into Week 6 of the season we begin to see how district standings are shaping up, and how teams will be seeded for the Section Tournament.
There are 3 games left of the regular season that will all be played over the next 13 days. It'll be a busy few weeks, and it should make for some exciting football!

Opening things up with the 9-Man rankings, Lanesboro makes the move from #3 last week to #2 this week. The Burros are 5-0 and have played great all season including big wins at home over Grand Meadow and LeRoy-Ostrander who both received votes in this week's ranking. The Cardinals were ranked #10 last week but fell to the Superlarks in a tough battle this past Friday. Section 1 9-Man is filled with a lot of talent and should make for a fun section tournament.

Class A Minnesota State Football Rankings
The Rushford-Peterson Trojans came away with another win in Week 5 helping the squad move from #9 in the rankings all the way up to 36. Murray County Central remains at #1 with Minneota and BOLD at #2 and #4. The Trojans were not the only team in Southeast Minnesota receiving votes as the Fillmore Central Falcons also received votes. The Trojans topped Fillmore Central earlier this season, but the Falcons haven't lost a game since after big wins over Randolph and Faribault B.A. the past two weeks.

Class AA Minnesota State Football Rankings
Blooming Prairie continues to win as they moved to 5-0 on the season with another shutout win, this time over St. Clair/Loyola. The Awesome Blossoms have been ranked #1 all season long as they moved into Class AA this year. The Chatfield Gophers had a big win over #1 ranked in Class AAA Cannon Falls this past Saturday and now find themselves back in the Top 10 at #8. The Gophers have a tough matchup with Goodhue this week.

Class AAA Minnesota State Football Rankings
The Lake City Tigers are the new #1 team in Class AAA football after a win in Week 5 over Pine Island. The Tigers were ranked #2 last week and moved up to #1 after the Cannon Falls Bombers fell to the Chatfield Gophers last week. Plainview-Elgin-Millville slid down one spot from #8 to #9 after a 26-13 win over Rochester Lourdes last Thursday night.

Class AAAA Minnesota State Football Rankings
It will be a big-time Top 5 matchup in Stewartville this Friday night as the #4 ranked Tigers welcome #5 ranked Kasson-Mantorville to town for what should be a great matchup. The Tigers are still undefeated at 5-0 while the KoMets moved to 4-1 after a 1-point win over Faribault this past Friday night. The Tigers were #5 last week while K-M was #7. It is also Homecoming for the Tigers, giving some extra juice to the game.

The big matchup in Class AAAAA football in Southeast Minnesota last week was Mankato West vs. Rochester Mayo and the Scarlets came away with a victory, helping solidify their #1 ranking. Rochester Mayo dropped two spots to #8, but are still 4-1 on the year. They have a matchup with New Prague this week.

Area teams are still striving to be playing their best football toward the end of the season. These last three games will be important for every team to begin to get their best foot forward as the section playoffs are right around the corner.
