It was just last week that Sun Country Airlines introduced flights leaving Minnesota for $39 and now another airline has done the same thing.

If you're looking to travel in this new year, two airlines serving the Land of 10,000 Lakes are making it a lot more affordable. As we just mentioned, last week, Minnesota's own Sun Country Airlines announced it was offering flights to Colorado for less than $40.

It's true. If you book a trip to Denver, Colorado on Sun Country (leaving from MSP - the Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport) between January 19th through February 15th, your cost is just $39 a ticket. (Actually, it's $38.90 plus bag fees.)

And now, Frontier Airlines announced it's starting service on its direct flight from the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Phoenix's International Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) starting at just $39! According to the Minneapolis - St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ), those new cheap flights will be offered four times a week (though fewer flights will be available during February) and will fly direct from MSP to PHX.

MSPBJ also noted that while those flights do indeed start at $39, your final bill will likely be higher than $39. That's because extra travel services, like baggage and advance seat assignments, are available for purchase separately at an additional charge.

Frontier's announcement Friday introducing this new route is an interesting addition because it was just last fall that Frontier announced it was ENDING its direct flights from Minnesota (MSP) to Orlando (MCO) this winter.

And just a few days ago, industry observers noted that JetBlue is apparently ending a popular direct flight from MSP in March as well.

Now while Phoenix is a great winter destination, a quick check of the booking section of the Frontier website shows you can *ALSO* get a $39 non-stop flight from Minnesota to Las Vegas on select dates, as well. (I found a $38 fare for flights leaving MSP on Mon 1/23 and Wed 1/25.)
