Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is now reporting a dumpster fire outside a Byron school building was an accident.

The fire at the rear of the Zumbro Education District south campus building Tuesday night was initially classified as suspicious. But investigators learned some rags from the school’s shop class had been placed in the dumpster and later ignited through spontaneous combustion.

The fire caused damage estimated at $10,000 and forced the cancellation of classes Wednesday.
