Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Early voting for the August 11th primary elections in Minnesota opens Friday.

For Olmsted County residents, In-person absentee voting will be available, beginning Friday, at the new Elections Office at 2122 Campus Drive Southeast during normal business hours. Another in-person voting location will be made available at the Government Center during the week before the actual primary election date.

Mailed-in absentee ballots will be counted as long as they are received within two days of the August 11th primary but they must be postmarked by the election day. Secretary of State Steve Simon has also sent out guidance to county election officials indicating the requirement for a witness signature on the mailed-in ballots has been waived this year due to the pandemic.

Locally, primary elections are being held to narrow the field of candidates for all of the positions on the Rochester City Council that are up for election this year, and one position on the Olmsted County Board.
