Flags Lowered to Honor First Responder Killed in Crash
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton has ordered that state and US flags flown at government facilities be lowered to half staff from sunrise until sunset today to honor a young Emergency Medical Technician killed in the line of duty.
24-year-old Marina Challeen was a member of the crew of an ambulance that was involved in a traffic crash on a Twin Cities freeway on October 9th. She was fatally injured while riding in the passenger seat when the ambulance crashed into the back of a semi truck that had stalled on the highway.
Challeen was a graduate of Stillwater Area High School and the University of Minnesota. The celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church in the Mahtomedi.
