Anyone who was ever interested in going to college knows the whole shebang about studying for the ACT or SAT. I remember spending hours taking practice tests and working through a workbook. My parents even spent a lot of money on ACT prep classes for me. Which in the end is the reason I did so well.

According to the Rochester Public Library website, any students in the 7th grade to the 12th grade can take a FREE practice ACT. This allows students to get exposure to the test before they have to take it for real. According to College Raptor, 55% of students who have taken the ACT/SAT multiple times get higher scores. So seeing the test a few times can help… especially when you don’t have to pay for it. From my experience, the questions were very similar each time I took it. So by understanding the wording of the questions, I increased my scores by a sizeable margin.

If your student is interested in taking this test, they need to register on the Library website. The test will be held on July 31st from 1pm to 4pm at the Library. There are only 28 spots for the test, so if you are interested, it's best to register now. Just remember your #2 pencils, a calculator and your best attitude!

After completing the test, your student will get results as if it was a real test. That way they know where they stand and what they need to work on.
