We’re seeking people with a passion for sustainability and natural heritage, experience in maintaining infrastructure and who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and live remotely.

The Great Barrier Reed Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is looking for someone who is ready to enjoy a full-time "vacation" living on a tropical island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef. The "isolated tropical island" Low Isles, is located about 9 miles off the coast of Port Douglas, Queensland.

The caretakers live in paradise on a tropical island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef -- but maintaining an island is hard work. -Mark Reed, Assistant Director of Reef Conservation Actions.

If hired for the position, you would be living full time on the island maintaining the buildings and infrastructure, mingling with tourist, grounds work and counting the bird population on the island!
