Get Paid to Serve on These Rochester Committees
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two local governmental entities are offering to pay community members for their input.
The Rochester Public Schools is recruiting people to participate in an action planning group that will come up with a roadmap for focusing and coordinating the efforts of the entire community to achieve the goals outlined in the school district's current strategic plan and Graduate Profile.
“Our goal is to have a variety of background and knowledge in six collaborative groups, including Rochester Public Schools staff, students, parents, and community members,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Kent Pekel.
The community members selected to participate would be assigned to six working groups that would begin meeting in mid-October. There would be a total of five meetings, each lasting about three hours. A virtual option will be offered for all of the sessions and a stipend of $150 per meeting will be paid to those who request payment for their time. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply using this application link.
The other opportunity to serve as a paid participant is coming from Rochester Public Transit. RPT is seeking applicants for a Community Working Group to assist in the development of the city's next transit development plan. It is described as a blueprint for public transit service and investment for the next five years.
Participants will be asked to share information and insights about their own experiences using Rochester's transit systems and to help gather feedback from the community to help make changes that would improve the system. A news release says the changes could include bus routes, bus stops, other facilities, and analyzing fare payment options, which could include a fare-free option.
Members of the working group would be asked to commit to around 25 hours of participation over the course of several months. Rochester Public Transit says they will be offered $25 per hour in compensation.
Applications are due by Friday, September 17 through the Rochester Public Transit Website. Anyone requiring assistance with completing the application or survey may contact RPT at 507-328-2409 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
