It's an HGTV lover's dream come true!

Unfortunately it's not all quite as it would seem!

My husband is a real estate agent, and got invited to an "exclusive" event last night. From the information we received, we were both under the impression that the one and only 'Flip or Flop' TV couple, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, were coming to Rochester.

We got VIP tickets that had a face value of $150. (Don't worry, we didn't pay for them.) No signs pointing to anything amiss at this point. We get to the Kahler, and there is a huge cutout of the TV couple outside the ballroom. We go into the room, and there are posters of them, more cutouts and their picture is on the big screen. I was so excited. I had my little notebook sitting in my lap and my phone in hand to take pictures. A man, who I thought was just there to introduce them, gets on stage. He immediately starts talking about this three-day training session. A session that he paid thousands to do. Classes that will teach you to triple your money in months. At one point he said, "You can make money and buy houses with no money down, even with bad credit!" It was in that moment that my husband and I looked at each other and said "We're out!" Hate to break it to you, but that's NOT possible!

We did a little more digging after we left. The company that put this event on actually pays Tarek and Christina to endorse them. That's their only connection.

Yep, we fell for their marketing. Call me an optimist or naive for actually believing that these people would come to our area...
