Tim McGraw’s ‘Humble and Kind’ Named Best Country Song at 2017 Grammy Awards
Lori McKenna won the 2017 Grammy Awards Best Country Song honor on Sunday (Feb. 12), for her song "Humble and Kind," performed by Tim McGraw. The honor was handed out during the Premiere Ceremony, which streamed online before the televised awards show.
"This is such an honor," McKenna said, and then began to cry, while the audience cheered her on.
"... I just sat at my dining room table and wrote a song for my kids one day," McKenna continued. "And Tim McGraw made a moment out of this tiny, simple prayer that I wrote ... Thank you so much for having me and letting little songs like this make their way onto the radio."
The year's other nominees for Best Country Song were "Blue Ain't Your Color," performed by Keith Urban; "Die a Happy Man," performed by Thomas Rhett; "My Church," performed by Maren Morris; and "Vice," performed by Miranda Lambert.
Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose won the 2016 Grammy for Best Country Song, for their song "Girl Crush," performed by Little Big Town.
