WalletHub is always doing studies and putting together lists to help put lifestyles in perspective depending on where you live. I have learned a lot from these studies over the years!

This time around, they named the safest states in the country and sadly for some, they also named those that are falling short at the moment. This study was just published on Monday (October 5th) so the results are fresh!
Minnesota did incredible, coming in near the top as the seventh safest state in the country. What about Wisconsin? Let's take a closer look.

Where Wisconsin Landed On List Of The Safest States For 2026
Okay, Wisconsin has a little work to do! While Wisconsin didn't land in the bottom half of this list, it definitely could have done a little bit better. The Cheesehead State landed at number 21 on this list.

That means it isn't necessarily one of the safest states but it also isn't unsafe. In fact, according to how WalletHub put together this list, Wisconsin falls into the 'above average' category when it comes to safety.

How WalletHub Came Up With This List Of The Safest States In America
There are many different ways you could organize a list regarding safety. In this instance, WalletHub analysts looked at a bunch of key relevant factors, including: law enforcement employees and assaults per capita, the bullying rate and the unemployment rate.

These are just a few examples of many. Wisconsin did really well in terms of financial stability, so that is definitely something to celebrate!

Wisconsin may not have done as great as Minnesota here but there's always next year! As for the safest states, those would be Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine. The least safe states include Louisiana and Mississippi.
