Man With Rifle Prompts Dodge Center School Lockdown
Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - A southeastern Minnesota school was placed on lockdown this afternoon while law enforcement were dealing with a situation involving a man with a rifle.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a residence in Dodge Center around 1:30 p.m. after receiving a call from a person who reported his roommate was armed, intoxicated, and threatening to shoot others and himself. The caller identified the man as 46-year-old Michael Majerus and told the Sheriff’s Office he had multiple firearms in the house.
Deputies Respond to Armed Threat
According to Sheriff Scott Rose, when deputies arrived at the property, they found Majerus outside the home leaning against the front of a vehicle with what appeared to be a high-caliber rifle. A deputy made verbal contact with the man, who was described as agitated and refused to walk away from the gun.
The sheriff says Majerus eventually picked up the rifle and began walking around the front of the house, making comments that he wanted deputies to shoot him. Deputies continued talking with him in an effort to get him to put the rifle down.

School Lockdown
A short time after deputies arrived, the Dodge County school resource deputy advised that Triton School had been placed in a secure lockdown. The school is located approximately two-thirds of a mile from the site of the incident. The Kasson Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded and established a perimeter around the property.
Tackled By Son
Approximately a half-hour after deputies responded to the home, Sheriff Rose says Majerus went back inside the house with the rifle. Deputies were informed his two adult sons were inside. Several minutes later, one of them came outside and indicated the other son had tackled Majerus and was holding him down.
Two deputies went inside the residence and took Majerus into custody. He was transported to St. Marys Hospital for evaluation before being transferred to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center pending the filing of formal charges.
No injuries were reported, and the school lockdown ended shortly after Majerus was taken into custody.
