Rochester Honkers Are Hosting Their First-Ever Sensory Friendly Night
The Rochester Honkers are hosting their first-ever sensory friendly night during their game coming up on Tuesday. It's so nice to see so many places and events providing at least sensory friendly areas so people who become over stimulated can go relax and re-group without having to miss out on all the fun. Having totally sensory friendly events like the Honkers are doing is even cooler!

Honkers Sensory Friendly Game
This sensory friendly night has been put together in collaboration with Momentum Behavior Services out of Rochester.
Holly, who is with Momentum Behavior Services, said that they put this event together to "provide individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, and their families the opportunity to enjoy America's favorite pastime in a more welcoming and supportive environment."
Many times families who have someone with autism or sensory sensitivities feel like they can't attend some events because they don't know if there's going to be a good place to bring that person if they need to decompress for a bit.
But at Sensory Friendly Night at the Park, families don't need to worry about that!
How the Honkers Sensory Friendly Night Will Work
Sensory Friendly Night is on Tuesday, June 16th with the first pitch at 6:35 PM.
During Sensory Friendly Night, there will be:
- Sensory-friendly supports
- Access to a quiet space
- On-field games and activities
- Meet-and-greet opportunities
- Player autographs
- Community partner tailgating
- Momentum and Honkers beach ball giveaways
- Family-friendly activities throughout the evening
It doesn't sound the like lights will be any dimmer and the speakers won't be any quieter, but there will be those quite spaces to retreat to if needed and support if that's necessary.
