Just in time for the Fourth of July, there's a new survey out that ranks all 50 states on how patriotic they are. So, how patriotic are we here in Minnesota?

Well, as it turns out, we're slightly below the middle of the pack. According to THIS survey from Wallethub.com, Minnesota is ranked 34th out of 50.

The survey ranks us based on two different criteria, something they're calling Military Engagement (that's comprised of the percentage of residents who enlisted in the military; number of veterans per 100,000 residents; and number of active-duty military personnel) combined with Civic Engagement (which is made up of percentage of people who voted in the last presidential election; Peace Corps volunteers; the frequency of Google searches for American flags; and our civics education requirement).

Minnesota is ranked #50 in Military Engagement, while we come in at #2 in our Civic Engagement. We were #1 in the percentage of state residents who voted in the last presidential election. Overall, though, that puts us in the bottom half. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is ranked 20th overall, coming in #1 in the Civic Engagement category. Iowa was ranked 32nd overall. The most patriotic state is Virginia, while the least patriotic state was New York.

I'm not sure I agree with Minnesota's position, though. I'm thinking Minnesota is much more patriotic than #34.  What do you think?
