This Minnesota Lake Was Just Named the Prettiest in the State
When I first saw the headline about the prettiest lake in Minnesota, I almost didn’t even bother clicking. I mean, obviously it’s Lake Superior, right? She’s literally named superior. Case closed. But, nope! Believe it or not, it's NOT Lake Superior.

While I love the lake that was crowned the prettiest in all of Minnesota, I never would’ve guessed it’d beat out all the others, especially in a state with more than 10,000 to choose from.
So, what’s your pick? Because let’s be real, Minnesota has so many lakes, we eventually ran out of name ideas. (Looking at you, Round Lake #47.)

Reader’s Digest just dropped a list of the most beautiful lakes in every state—and they didn’t hold back. We’re talking everything from the mighty Great Lakes to tiny spring-fed hideaways, alpine stunners, and even man-made spots that still manage to bring the wow factor.
Their pick for Minnesota? It’s not Mille Lacs. Not Itasca. Not even Lake Minnetonka. Drum roll please..
Interestingly, our pick for Minnesota’s prettiest lake is Lake Pepin, the widest natural part of the Mississippi River. This large body of water, some 20-plus miles long and almost three miles wide, actually forms the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. - Reader's Digest
Honestly, I was surprised at first, but Lake Pepin is a solid pick. Dramatic cliffs, tree-covered bluffs, and adorable towns lining the shore. It’s the perfect mix of beauty and character. And the lake itself? It’s huge and built for every kind of water adventure - boating, fishing, kayaking, sailing - there’s no shortage of fun to be had here.
