Major Airline Making It Easier To Fly Out Of Rochester
A major airline announced it was adding a new service that will make it easier to fly out of Rochester International Airport this fall.
I'm a little ashamed to admit that after having lived in Rochester for over a decade now, I've only flown out of Rochester International Airport (RST) one time, last spring when my wife and I took a trip to the Outer Banks. We flew on United Airlines' connecting flight that took us non-stop from RST here in Minnesota to O'Hare Airport in Chicago where we boarded another flight to Norfolk, Virginia.
And, let me tell you, It was incredibly easy flying out of RST. No more spending nearly an hour and a half driving up Highway-52 to the Minneapolis airport. Plus, parking for the entire week was waaay cheaper here in Rochester, and getting through the TSA checkpoint only took about 10 minutes.
Now, sadly, that direct Rochester-to-Chicago route we took in May last year ended last fall. But Delta Airlines just announced it's adding a new mainline service to a daily flight between RST and the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Bloomington.
According to RST, the new Delta mainline service is set to begin operating daily between RST and MSP on November 9th and will utilize Boeing 717-200 aircraft that seats 110 people. That means, as RST said, 'the increase in aircraft size brings more seats back into the RST market.'
Which is great news. Even if you have to take another flight from MSP to your destination, it's still great to have more options for flying out of RST. Of course, there ARE several destinations to which RST already offers direct service-- check 'em out HERE.
RST is a great place, staffed by some amazing employees (check out this story about how one RST staffer helped a traveler accidentally stranded in Rochester), but it's not the only place in the Med City to offer great service.
