Man Accused of Killing Girl in Austin Admits Killing Her Mother
Milwaukee, WI (KROC-AM News) - A Wisconsin man accused of murdering his two-year-old daughter in Minnesota has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and attempted murder charges for killing the child's mother and wounding another woman in 2019.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says 37-year-old Dariaz Higgins admitted to shooting 24-year-old Sierra Robinson and a friend outside of a Milwaukee apartment building. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 26th.
The criminal charges alleged the two women had traveled from Las Vegas to Milwaukee to take custody of two-year-old Noelani Robinson from Higgins when he shot them and then drove to Minnesota with his daughter. A passing motorist found the little girl’s body along Highway 218 near Blooming Prairie in March 2019.
A criminal complaint filed in Mower County charges Higgins with second-degree murder for allegedly causing the child's death. The court record indicates Higgins told investigators Noelani died after she fell off a toilet in an Austin motel room and struck her head, but an autopsy found her death was caused by non-accidental blunt force trauma injuries to her head that were not consistent with her father's version of events.
Higgins has yet to enter a plea in the Minnesota case.
