Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was arrested over the weekend after he broke into an elderly couple’s home and barricaded himself in a bedroom.

Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis says an 87-year-old woman called 911 from a neighbor’s home about 7 o’clock Saturday evening after the man came to the front door of her home in the 1200 block of 8 ½ Street SE and then kicked in the back door after she refused to allow him inside. After yelling at the man to get out, the woman told officers she grabbed her dog and went to a neighbor’s home to get help.

When police arrived, 28-year-old David Galvan had barricaded himself inside a bedroom, which he alleged ransacked before surrendering to officers. Lieutenant says the arresting officers indicated Galvan appeared to be intoxicated. No one was hurt, but the damage to the home was estimated at about $1500.
