Minnesota State Patrol IDs Claremont Traffic Victims
Claremont, MN ( KROC AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the victims of Wednesday’s deadly traffic wreck near Claremont.
The State Patrol says a car driven by 57-year-old Jay Logan of New Richland crossed the centerline of Highway 14 around 6:00 PM and collided head-on with a semi-truck. He and passenger 52-year-old Elizabeth Logan of New Richland were killed.
The truck caught fire after the wreck but the driver- 75-year-old Merritt Davis of Cleveland, MN - escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
The wreck came just a few weeks after a groundbreaking ceremony was held to highlight a project that will make Highway 14 a four-lane roadway between Dodge Center and Owatonna. That’s the final section of the highway between Rochester and Mankato with just two lanes. It has seen a large number of deadly wrecks over the years.
